Jeff Gee was elected to his first term on the City Council in Redwood City in 2009. Jeff served as Redwood City's Vice Mayor in 2012 and 2013. In November of 2013, Jeff was re-elected to a second term on the City Council and he was unanimously selected by his City Council colleagues to serve as the Mayor of Redwood City in 2014 and 2015.
Jeff returned to public service in 2020 and was elected to the City Council in District 1 - Redwood Shores. In 2023, he became Mayor. In addition to serving as Mayor, he sits on several City Council Committees, including:
In these regional roles, Jeff was always focused on reducing traffic congestion, protecting the environment and air quality, and ensuring that Redwood City and San Mateo County’s local economy is vibrant and that the quality of life for residents is protected and enhanced.
Jeff has also served as the President and Director of the League of California Cities, Asian Pacific Islander (API) Caucus, one of the Leagues’ five diversity caucuses, advocating on API issues. He has also served for four years on the League’s Public Safety Policy Committee.
Jeff has also served as the Chairman of the Redwood City/San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Jeff was honored as the 2006 Chamber of Commerce Person of the Year for his continued work to attract and retain good jobs to Redwood City and support local businesses downtown and throughout the city.
Jeff is also involved as a volunteer with many Redwood City organizations, including his work as the Past President, Treasurer, and Director of the Redwood Shores Community Association; Cañada College Community Council; and the Advisory Board for the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center.
Professionally, Jeff is a Vice President and General Manager with Swinerton Management & Consulting in San Francisco. He is a licensed architect, and is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. He is married to his wife Judie and has two children who attended local public schools.
