Redwood Shores Community Association - PILOT
February 2021
As Redwood City transition to district elections and works on its efforts to be more diverse, inclusive and equitable, there will be opportunities for Redwood Shores residents to participate in local government. At the January 25 City Council meeting, the Council is scheduled to adopt a number of resolutions to further a number of initiatives.
One of these initiatives is the establishment of a Redwood City Police Advisory Committee. Appointment to this committee will include the nomination of a committee member by each Councilmember. In the Spring, the City will begin its recruitment for appointment to its Boards, Committees and Commissions. Included in this year’s recruitment and appointment efforts are three appointments to the Planning Commission. If you are interested in seeking an appointment, please reach out to me at jgee@redwoodcity.org and I can review the application and appointment process with you.
I am also honored to share with you that I have been appointed to serve on the SamTrans Board of Directors and the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (JPB) which oversees Caltrain. These appointments are voted on by the Mayors of all of the cities in San Mateo County. More locally, I will be serving on the committee with our trustees from BRSSD, the San Francisco Airport Roundtable, and on the City’s Climate Action Committee (this is where seal level rise and flood control issues reside – i.e. levees), and the Council’s Transportation/Mobility Committee.
Working across the region and with our cities in the County is critical as issues rarely stop at city limits. A new planning effort launched by the City of San Carlos will take a look at developing a vision for an area generally between US 101 and Industrial, and Holly to Brittan Ave. In talking with San Carlos Mayor Laura Palmer-Lohan, she encourages Redwood Shores resident to participate in the community engagement process that will begin this Spring.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at jgee@redwoodcity.org, or call me at 650-483-7412.
